Leg byes are byes that have not hit the batsman's bat, but hit his body. In terms of scoring they are the same as byes, except for being labelled as leg byes. They may only be scored if the batsman was trying to hit the ball with his bat, or trying to avoid being hit by it. If the batsman was not attempting either of these and it hits him/her, it is a dead ball. If the batsman attempts to run they can be run out and the runs will not count. |
