Penalty Runs

Five penalty runs can be awarded for various reasons. These are the following:
Awarded to the batting team

  • The ball hits a fielder helmet that has been left on the ground.
  • A fielder fields the ball using something other than his body.
  • The ball is touched by a fielder who is on the field without the umpire's permission.
  • The umpire decides the ball has been tampered by the fielding team.
  • The fielding team obstruct or cause distraction to the batsman.
  • The fielding team damage the protected area of the pitch after being warned
  • The fielding team deliberately waste time before overs.

Awarded to the bowling team
  • The batters deliberately attempt to run short
  • The batters waste time deliberately after being warned
  • The batters damage the protected area of the pitch after being warned twice.

Penalty runs are added to the fielding team's previous inning score, unless they have not batted, in which case its added when they do bat.

Crick Kit can make scoring even easier. It eliminates the need to calculate statistics and putting in a balls value only requiring one selection from a menu
